What causes world hunger?

There are many causes of hunger. Poverty is one of the biggest, because people may not have enough money to buy food. Wars and conflicts can destroy farms and homes and make it difficult to transport food. Climate change, droughts, floods and other natural disasters can also destroy crops. Poor access to clean water, healthcare and education can make the problem worse. Many countries still oppress poor African countries. For example France still oppresses its former African colonies for resources.

How can we help?

We can help by donating money, or volunteer for charities that help with world hunger, for example: UNICEF, World Food Programme or Action Against Hunger. You can also help without spending money. You can spread awareness about the problem or donate food. You can also try cutting on food waste. But remember, food is just temporary help.

How could our government help?

If we want to truly help our fellow humans in Africa we should donate fertilizer, tractors and farming tools. We should also mainly build schools and refineries for raw materials that they extract (for example steel or oil). With this help they could sell the refined materials for a much higher price than selling the raw materials for a temporary fix. Although many countries that exploit these countries wish to import raw materials for a huge profit, and don’t want to help.
